UMB Graduate Students in Gerontology visited SHI

Back

On Tuesday, June 11th, graduate students of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) visited SHI as a part of their program, “The Global Health and Aging: Gerontology in Japan,” and joined a three-and-half hour event, organized by Dr. Hiroto Narimatsu, an SHI professor.

Following an introduction of our school from Dr. Narimatsu, Dr. Sho Nakamura, an SHI associate professor, and Dr. Makoto Nagasawa, an SHI PhD graduate, gave presentations on  “the ME-BYO Cohort and ME-RISE Project” and a “Wearable Cyborg HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb)”, respectively. Three undergraduate and graduate students, Ms. Shoko Mimura (Graduate School of Health and Social Services, KUHS), Ms. Fumie Otsuka (SHI), and Ms. Mai Inoue (School of Nutrition and Dietetics, KUHS), gave presentations as well, and they recieved many questions after their presentations.

UMB graduate students and faculty members also gave short presentations and shared their research topics with us. It was a great opportunity for our students to meet graduate students and faculty members from other countries.
